So… I recently styled a photo shoot for a fabulous etsy seller; Dressing on the side. The photos were taken by the talented Galaxy Andrews. And most importantly, the shoot was produced/coordinated/made possible by the AMAZING Alexis Brunstedt. Be sure to check out these kitsch businesses and give them your support.
Here are some photos to get you going

Call them granny boots or a number of other things. If you’re shopping on eBay or Etsy their names are as long as the site allows.Granny, pixie, elf, punk, grunge, victorian, tall, lace-up, oxford, brogue, ankle BOOTS.
It’s exhausting!! But people know what they are searching for and the sellers know it too.
They are the current HOT, 2010 item and for good reason. They are mid 80s to early 90s style. They are the fashion of TODAY! Everyone (with mad style) wants them.
They cannot be found in your average mall store and there are no re-makes (to date), which makes them less publicly exploited. A vintage connoisseur loses a little love for items which have been re-made and re-marketed in today’s culture. All you vintage shoppers know what I’m talking about. It’s not as fun when you’re average joe can drop in any Urban Outfitters
or Forever 21 and find a new version boots (or clothes) we hold sacred based on age, and difficulty to obtain. The reward is in the hunt. “Easy” does not coincide with “Vintage”. They are, in truth, opposites.
There are a few GREAT eBay stores to find good granny boots. Check out these links;

The 1960s. OOOOHHH what a time for fashion.
Clothing was heavily inspired by music (oh the Beatles were a big influence), the anti-war movement, and amazing women such as Jackie Kennedy Onassis.
The mini skirt was invented by Mary Quaint. Mini dresses became all the rage – a break from the traditional wiggle dresses of the 50s. Twiggy, the fashion model, is known for wearing these dresses.

twiggy - 1960s fashion
Britain’s, MOD Invasion, was a HUGE part of 60s fashion, heavily influenced by the Beatles. 1960s fashion is also indicitive of super models Twiggy and Colleen Corby (as well as many others).
A-line dresses were big in the early 60s along with the Shift dress – a shapeless, geometric cut, usually sleeveless dress. The 60s gave us the Babydoll dress, usually an empire waist, flared skirt mini dress.
Along with the mini skirt, culottes were all the rage – short, extra wide legged bottoms. Palazzo pants, by Russian designer Galitzine, were a big hit too!
The hippie movement began in the late 1960s. Bringing about, bell bottoms, tie die, batik, psychadelic fabrics, mexican peasant dresses, caftans and so much more.
Interestingly, skinny jeans also became popular at this time thanks to Audrey Hepburn.
Flat boots, go-go boots, low and wide heels took the place of stilleto’s from the 50s.
Fashion designers of the 60s include; Yves Saint Laurent, Givenchy, Valentino, Cassini, Guy Laroche, Balenciaga, and Galitzine.
